Job description: A fantastic opportunity has arisen to act as Custody Operations Team Lead at a boutique custody and custody company in Malta. You will report to the Head of Custody Operations and work with various departments such as Account Management, Finance and Trading, carrying out a range of operational processing tasks as well as related intra-group companies. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in finance or economics or equivalent experience, as well as three to five years of experience in custody operations or a similar role in a financial institution. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and coordinate the team for daily operations.
Plan the daily work of the operations team.
Lead the stand-up call for daily operations.
Coordinate ad hoc requests/tasks for different customers (operational requests from different customers).
Oversee the execution of customer transactions, including trade settlements, account openings and account maintenance.
Participate in the hiring process.
Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Verify and approve external payments.
Setting up KPIs for the team and reporting daily to key stakeholders.
Act as the primary expert in all operational matters.
You act as the contact person for customer inquiries to the Operations department and solve all operational problems or inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Ensure all operational tasks are completed on time and maintain records of overdue tasks or operational risk events.
Stay up to date on industry developments, regulatory changes and financial best practices.
Review and submit regulatory reports prepared by the operations team
Act as a surrogate for all members of the operations team.
Act as the first point of contact for questions or issues related to transactions on customer accounts.
Perform ad hoc reconciliations of data created by the operations department.
Maintain a strong compliance culture within the company. Complete any additional duties related to the above or as assigned by the company.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Bachelor's degree in finance or economics or equivalent experience.
3-5 years of experience in custody operations or a similar role in a financial institution.
Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role with demonstrated ability to motivate and develop a team.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Fluent in English; Knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
Team player who can work under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
Detail-oriented and self-organized, able to complete day-to-day routine tasks.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to deal efficiently with various internal departments and external contacts.
High level of honesty, integrity and trustworthiness.
Knowledge of financial markets and products is an advantage.
Passionate about operations, finance and technology.
