Google makes a mistake: It's automated system removed local guide reviews

Google has acknowledged its fault in attempting to eliminate local reviews and has taken responsibility for its policies and guidelines violations. The automated system that was designed to adhere to its established rules mistakenly removed evaluations provided by local guides, and now the tech giant is striving to rectify the issue by reinstating the erroneously removed reviews.

In its statement, Google announced that “in recent weeks, our security protocols have detected and taken down an unexpected number of policy-compliant evaluations from a group of Local Guides. Additionally, we have closely monitored conversations on Connect about unpublished reviews, and we understand that this change has had a significant impact on many accounts.”

Google has also revealed that it will upgrade its safeguards to address the problem of fraudulent evaluations. If an evaluation is deemed fraudulent, the company will reinstate it automatically within the next few weeks. However, some evaluations may remain private if their content is found to be in violation of the company’s policies.

If your evaluation has yet to be reinstated, you can fill out a form to request a human review. The link to the form can be found below.
