Job description: We are looking for a Legal and Compliance Officer to join our client team.
ABOUT OUR CUSTOMER
Our client is a bank that provides banking services to international corporate clients and is based in Sliema, Malta.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- We work within the legal and compliance framework of a local credit institution to ensure that the bank complies at all times with all regulatory requirements under the banking license, including, but not limited to, AML/CFT, MFSA Banking Rules, GDPR, EU regulations and local laws.
- Research and analysis of upcoming EU directives/regulations and local laws (including EBA directives) and impacts on operations.
- Preparation of internal reports and gap analysis related to the implementation of new regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the development/review of internal policies and procedures and other governance, legal and regulatory documents.
- Support in the implementation and maintenance of the compliance monitoring framework.
- Assist in managing customer onboarding (account opening, AML and KYC, customer risk assessment and jurisdiction risk) and due diligence monitoring.
- Assist in the preparation of internal compliance reports and memos to the board.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
- Previous regulatory compliance experience at an EU regulated financial services institution.
- Able to work on your own initiative, multi-task and prioritize workload.
- Very organized, meticulous and focused.
- Strong work ethic, proactive and professional work attitude.
EDUCATION
A university degree in law.
WORKING HOURS
Monday to Friday with flexible start times, from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., 40 hours per week with 1 hour break daily.
