New Tools launched by Google
The Google Search Console has long been an essential tool for SEO professionals and website owners, allowing them to monitor and improve their website’s performance on Google’s search engine. Now, the tech giant has launched a new tool within the Search Console called the “removals tool” to help users with a range of tasks, including temporarily blocking search results from their site and managing SafeSearch filtering. This Google help document should help you in case you have any further queries.
Temporary Removal of URLs
One of the main features of the removals tool is the ability to request the temporary removal of specific URLs on verified sites. There are two types of removal requests available: “Temporarily Remove URL,” which will hide the URL from Google search results for about six months and clear the cached copy of the page; and “Clear Cached URL,” which will clear the cached page of the URL and wipe out the page description snippet in search results until the page is crawled again. Users can access the removals tool at https://search.google.com/search-console/removals. Here are a couple of screenshots to help you understand better:
Outdated Content Section
The removals tool also includes an “Outdated Content” section that displays all the information regarding removal requests made using the public “Remove Outdated Content” tool. This feature allows users to update search results showing information that is no longer available on the page, making it a useful tool for maintaining the accuracy and relevance of search results. SafeSearch Filtering
Another useful feature of the removals tool is the SafeSearch filtering section. This feature helps SEOs and webmasters quickly determine whether their content has been blocked due to being tagged as adult content. The SafeSearch filtering section in the Search Console shows a history of pages on a site that were reported by Google users as adult content using the SafeSearch Suggestion tool. URLs submitted using this tool are reviewed, and if Google determines that the content should be filtered from SafeSearch results, the URLs are tagged as adult content. Here’s a screenshot:
The new removals tool is a valuable addition to the Google Search Console and provides users with greater control over their website’s search results. Whether it’s temporarily removing URLs, managing outdated content, or monitoring SafeSearch filtering, the removals tool makes it easier for users to manage and improve their website’s performance on Google search.
